Cream measurement conversions
Recipes switch between volume (cups, tablespoons and teaspoons) and weight (grams) all the time, and for cream the two aren't interchangeable โ you have to know the density. Cream has a density of about 1.01 g/ml, which means:
- 1 cup of cream โ 242 g
- 1 dl of cream โ 101 g
- 1 tablespoon of cream โ 15.2 g
- 1 teaspoon of cream โ 5.05 g
Measuring tip. Whipping cream is close to water in weight, so millilitres and grams are nearly the same โ 1 dl is about 100 g.
The pages below give you each specific conversion โ pick the exact one you need, with a full table and a calculator for any amount. When a recipe really matters, a kitchen scale beats every volume measure: weight ignores how packed or sifted the cream is.
