Honey measurement conversions
Recipes switch between volume (cups, tablespoons and teaspoons) and weight (grams) all the time, and for honey the two aren't interchangeable โ you have to know the density. Honey has a density of about 1.42 g/ml, which means:
- 1 cup of honey โ 341 g
- 1 dl of honey โ 142 g
- 1 tablespoon of honey โ 21.3 g
- 1 teaspoon of honey โ 7.1 g
Measuring tip. Honey is dense and sticky โ it weighs far more than the same volume of water. Warming the spoon or oiling the cup helps it release cleanly.
The pages below give you each specific conversion โ pick the exact one you need, with a full table and a calculator for any amount. When a recipe really matters, a kitchen scale beats every volume measure: weight ignores how packed or sifted the honey is.
